Subject: Announce: Compaq C T6.3 ADK Compiler for Tru64 UNIX V4.0D and later

The Compaq C team has just released its first Advanced Development Kit (ADK)
compiler for Tru64 UNIX. This compiler installs and runs on all V4.0D and
later versions. It is expected to ship this summer in the next version of
the Developers' Toolkit Supplement.

This ADK C compiler was used for Compaq's recent SPEC CPU95 and SPEC CPU2000
performance testing in support of announcements. It delivers

o state-of-the-art optimization technology to exploit the latest Alpha
     hardware
o a powerful new compiler diagnostic facility including command-line
     message controls
o significant new C99 features, including restricted pointers, variable
length arrays, initializers with designators, and interspersed
     declarations and statements
o improved compatibility with Microsoft Visual C and gcc
o a full implementation of the OpenMP parallel programming API

The Compaq C ADK compiler is a free, easily installed upgrade. It can be
downloaded from
