My original question....

>Is there an easy way to trace a Legato nsrmmd process to a physical tape
>device. I can get instances where Legato screws up and can't access a tape
>in a drive, but I can't do anything with the drive because the nsrmmd
>process for that drive has it locked. So I have to use pot luck to kill off
>the processes until I manage to get the right process for the drive I want.
>Any clues?

>By the way I'm running on Dunix V4.0e PK2, Legato V5.5-1 Build 143

Was quickly answered by a chappie from Compaq who just happened to be here
doing
some other work. The quickest and simplest way is to use the freeware
utility fuser
to find out the pid of the appropriate nsrmmd process, e.g.

# fuser -v -f /dev/nrmt1h

Thanks to those that replied.
