Need Help Compiling gdb-4.17

     Folks-

     I've fetched the source for gdb-4.17 and am trying
to configure it on a Compaq XP1000. Whenever I run
./configure I get the result:

Invalid configuration `alphaev6-dec-osf4.0e': machine `alphaev6-dec'
not recognized

I've looked through the configure files and the machine type
alphaev6 is certainly there. Do I just need to do a simple
edit on the configuration file to get things to work?
