Hi guys,
I know I owe the list a couple of summaries...they will follow shortly after sorted todays dillemmas!!
Todays 1st.......AS4100 Tru64 v5.0 (recently upgraded from 4.0d) - everything was running fine until I came in this morning when the root_file_domain was full. I've found the problem , for some reason an old device file (nrmt0h) had grown to 44MB !! (Still finding out what has caused this)
Anyway...what I have done is create a tmp_domain and mounted tmp under this.....the FS is now down to %64 (after sorting nrmt0h) but I wanted to addvol instead of doing this!
I tried the following command.....
addvol /dev/disk/dsk4d root_domain
AND THIS......
addvol: error = E_TOO_MANY_VIRTUAL_DISKS (-1145)
addvol: Can't add volume '/dev/disk/dsk4d' to domain 'root_domain'
Now I know that the recommendations are to use the whole disk to avoid I/O contention but the above was only to make sure this problem doesn't re-occur until I can agree a time to bring it down and re-size the ROOT and USR domains. (too much in usr and not enough in root!) I checked in the manual and it doesn't say anything about not being able to addvol to ROOT, BUT it also doesn't mention anything about what the above error message means - not having the full unix docs available, can anybody explain to me what the above means and any possible solutions?
Thanks in advance and I promise I will summarise!
