Okay i forgot to mention, its a DEC TULIP (10/100) Ethernet Interface
DECchip 21143: Revision: 4.1

Original question below:

I have an XP1000 running 4.0E and during bootup, I see the card is
running in half duplex 10baseT. Its a auto-negotiation device but if I
set ewa0_mode to fastfd or fast or auto-negotiation, it hangs during
bootup when it tries to nfs mount the dirs in fstab. The error finally
says "can't get hostid". Its an 100BaseT line, is there something I'm
doing wrong or trying? Here's the steps I've tried.
>>> set ewa0_mode fastfd OR set ewa0_mode auto-negotiation OR set ewa0_mode fast
>>> boot
machine boots up...
hangs trying to nfs mount dirs.

I seen another mail that showed an init between the set cmd and boot
cmd, do I need to do this?
