Subject: per-proc-datasize

Hello Managers,

After a search through the archives I have only found one thread which
addresses per-proc-datasize.....
But it still doesn't answer my question which is as follows....

We currently have our per-proc-datasize set to 450meg....
But our ingres database uses this up over a period of 14 to 21 days
and we either have to reboot the system or let the database crash....
Neither option is attractive.... we are considering raising this parameter
to 650meg in the hope of finding a plateau.....

The question I have is, what are the pro's and con's regarding raising
this parameter?

We have several DU boxes but the main system in question is an ES40 running
4.0f with three processors and 1.5gig of ram with 3gig of swap....

Many thanks in advance,
Leo
