Can 4.0f use 5.0 file domains?

Hi,

I got a 5.0 machine wich I need to 'downgrade' to 4.0f.
I dont want to loose the data however. Can I reinstall it with
4.0f, then fix the links in /etc/fdmns and go on ? Or would 4.0f
not be able to use file domains created in 5.0 ?
