Achim Bohnet asks what the possibilities were:
strace is available as freeware but I'm not sure where from
truss is available on tru64 but you need a license
gtrace is available as freeware - according to John P Speno it looks the
same as alpha-trace available at
URL:ftp://ftp.iastate.edu/pub/unix/osf1/trace/
it is also possible to use audit_mask and audit_tools.
