Folks,
I've been charged with supporting one of these monsters and have never had to muck my hands with one before.
The problem is, this dept being run as it was, has seen alot of turnover, and little work in the turnover phases,
including a lack of proceedures to be followed in those pahses has left me with a box that there's no root password
available for. Normally I'd boot from the install media, hand mount /, and then hand edit the /etc/passwd file to fix the
issue. BUT, seems no one has the install media available either <DUH!>. So, is there someway I can boot single user
with a read and write root partition so I can ed the passwd file to remove the present passwd, then reboot into
multi-user mode and reset it?
Thanks,
Ron Dufresne
