Thanks for all the tip on my problem... and a great thanks to Nancy Davis
who came up with the final solution
I needed to run ECU (EISA Configuration Utility) and then the problem was
solved

re: DU4.0E install problem
I had this same experience recently on an Alpha 2100 axp.
Turns out our machine had an EISA bus and I needed to
configure that with the "ECU" before I could boot from cdrom.
ECU = EISA Configuration Utility,
on diskette which I fortunately found lying around here,
as I didn't find it available for download from Compaq
Check the output of:
>>> show config
If you have an EISA bus, then most likely this is what
you will need to do.

I´m trying to install DU4.0E on a Alpha 2000 4/233 with 128 Mb ram.
When I boot the OS-cd with "boot dka600" it´s suddenly stops (before I get
into the installation program) and this shows:
***************
Created FRU table binary error log packet
trap : invalid memory read access from kernel made
faulting virtual adress: 0x0000000000000090
pc of faulting instruction: 0xfffffc000044da90
ra contents at time of fault: 0xfffffc000066a218
sp contents at time of fault: 0xffffffff87c87720

dump : No primary swap, no explicit dumpdev, Nowhere to hide header,
giving up
halted CPU 0
halt code = 5
Halt instruction executed

during the boot process the memory passes fine
not enought memory?
I have a almost identical alpha standing beside and I get the same "error
log" when I try to boot the cd on that one
any tip?
