I posted the original partial summary for this question in September 1999. I
was having problems with Networker 5.5.1 seeing my TL891 and I have seen
other people post questions about this issue. I have just received the
resolution from a Legato SE who was on-site.
Resolution :
When running NW 5.5.1 the inquire does not see the TLxxx jukebox.
This has been seen with both the TL891 and TL895.
- It has been confirmed that the O/S is properly identifying the jukebox,
but the inquire simply does not report it.
In both cases these jukeboxes were being recognized by the firmware to the
O/S as TL810 or TL800 (respectively)
Impact:
As a result of this the jb_config can not be used in 'autodetect' mode.
Workaround:
Use "#uerf -r 300 -R | more" to obtain the correct scsi address and
firmware
recognition.
______________
... (excerpt of the output of the above uerf command)
scsi1 at pza0 slot 0
changer at scsi1 target 0 lun 0 (LID=1) (DEC TL810 (C) DEC 2.20)

OR
Use "# scu show edt bus 1" (assuming that the jukebox is on Bus 1)

CAM Equipment Device Table (EDT) Information:
Device: TL810 Bus: 1, Target: 0, Lun: 0, Type: Medium Changer
___________________________
1. Run jb_config and specify Option #3 SJI device
2. Then select the appropriate option for the DLT device
(#41 Digital DLT800 series, #42 Digital DLT810 series, #43 Digital DLT820
series)and specify scsidev_at_1.0.0 (depending on the result from the 'scu'
command)
I suspect that the fix for this will be available with NW 5.5.1-001, but
that is not
confirmed at this time
