Is it possible to make OS Disk Read Only

Hello Managers,

    Here is my dilemma:

I have to install Tru64 on a machine that it to be in an environment
where the Disks can either be Read only or Volatile.

The initial installation can be to a Read Write disk, but once it is
configured the Read Only jumper has to be set. I also have solid state
disks that I could use for writing.

Has anyone setup such a similar situation?? I know (at least it is my
understanding) that the system needs to write to various directories to
create log files, etc. What I was thinking is mounting any directory
that needs to be Read Write privileges on a partition of the read write
solid state. But I am stumped.

I appreciate any feedback anyone has to offer.

Thank you,

Sam Guercio
