[DUV4.0f Kit3] C2 enabled.
I have an ASE running a NIS Service. But it is not set up
as the manual recomments it. The difference is that /var/tcb/files
is local to all members. (The manual recomments linking to to a shared
NFS device). Only /var/yp/src and /var/yp/nisdomain are
linked to a shared NFS device. This configuration went well in the
past for several month. But time changes. Since two weeks dxaccounts
reports locked password files. (It has nothing to do, with the existance
of any /etc/.AM_is_running /etc/*ptmp or any *ptmp in the /var/yp... or
something simple like that, believe me!) The error occurs when
applying the changes in the modify user dialog. On both ASE members.
My last idea I have is to set up ASE + NIS as recommended. But there is a
problem where I need some assistance. I want to remove NIS completely, and
set it up as recommended (with /var/ase/files linked to the shared device)
I added all the users (app. 1500) with dxaccounts in the past, while
running NIS+C2. During adding a user I recogniced the growing of
the /var/yp/prpasswd and then the rebuilding of the nismap prpasswd. What
I do not understand is how to convert the enhanced user info stored in the
/var/yp/prpasswd into the /var/tcb/files database?
The manual of ASE + NIS recomments NOT distributing a prpasswd map.
Instead of this the /var/tcb/files should be linked to a shared NFS
device like /var/yp/src and /var/yp/nisdomain is.
But my /var/tcb/files does not contain the information about the NIS
users. This information is stored in /var/yp/prpasswd and a NIS map is
build from it.
So is there a way to convert it, or what way would you try. Highest
priority has got loosing not the user information.
