Original posting:
We have a 2100 5/300 with a single CPU running version 4.0F. It has dual
power supplies. Over the last 4 or 5 weeks the system has begun halting
itself at irregular intervals. There is no crash - the console shows the
following:
halt code 1
operator initiated halt
followed by a PC code.
There have been no software changes on the system. The only hardware
change has been a replacement of one of the power supplies, which blew.
The machine is on a UPS but has no UPS shutdown software running. The
error log and message logs show nothing at the time of the halt.
Could these halts be initiated by some internal environmental monitoring
software? Is there a low voltage on one or other of the power supplies,
perhaps, or is the old pwer supply starting to fail?
This has been a *very* reliable machine in the past and I would appreciate
any leads to discover why it has suddenly started to fail.

for their replies and suggestions.
The concensus was that one of the PSUs was flaky or there was some
other environmental factor (dirty filters) causing the halts.
This confirms my own suspicions. I'll get COMPAQ in to replace the new PSU
as a starter.
Thanks again to all who replied. It's been said before but this is a
*great* list!
