Hello,
We are considering implementing Microsoft's Active Directory so that
we can do the following:
(1) have a single sign-on to our systems -- iPlanet's Message Store
(formerly Innosoft's Message Store), Novell network, Digital UNIX box
(4.0D) which runs our administrative package, various web resources
that are running on NT servers.
(2) have a web-enabled management tool to manage user accounts
(3) provide resources to users based on their login.
(4) allow users to personalize web content
(5) allow us to track users' activity on the system
One of the companies with whom we have been working indicates to us
that they believe that Microsoft's Active Directory can manage all of
these tasks for us. Frankly, before jumping in this direction I would
like to talk with some people who have implemented Active Directory
and/or who can speak to the strengths/weaknesses of Active Directory
and/or who can suggest other "better" alternative solutions.
I appreciate any help that you can lend. I will summarize for the list.
Bill
