'no namelist' when running netstat

Hello Managers,

When running the 'netstat' command on one of our Digital UNIX 4.0D servers
we get a message 'no namelist'.

# netstat -a
  no namelist

I also receive a similar message when running the 'arp' command.

# arp -a
arp: bad namelist

We are still able to use the basic network services such as telnet/ftp
etc. However, users are reporting issues with their applications which
appears to be related.

Does anyone know what this means and if so, is there a way I can correct
this problem without a reboot of the system.

Regards...
