Hi,
Thanks to Andrew Tolmie and Rob Manevski for replying.
In the end we managed to get the machine to boot; it seems by just removing
the battery. Why this then meant that the machine booted to the SRM prompt,
instead of hanging trying to load the ARC console, I don't know.
But the machine is now once again usable.

Subject: problem booting multia desktop
Hi,
Can anyone explain the following, and how to resolve it.
I have an old Multia desktop running Tru64 UNIX. I decided to load the ARC
console out of curiosity and now the system will not boot at all.
It displays the following message.
Multi SRM Console BL5 V3.8-3, built on Aug 10 1995 03:22:55
***Warning: NVR/TOY battery is low. System may not boot***
Testing Memory from 8 to 40 meg...
Loading ARC firmware...
The system now just hangs at this point. I can't get the machine to do
anything else.
I know that the battery on the system is dead, but this hasn't proved a
problem before.
Any ideas
regards
Mark
