Thanks to Lee Hank, Paul A. Sand, and Richard Bond for their replies.
Their suggestions included:
1) Upgrade the Network Appliance Filer's OS to a later version. We have
5.2.2, and NetApp's latest is 5.3.5R2.
2) Upgrade Tru64 Unix from 5.0 to the recently shipped 5.0A.
3) Check that NetApp supports NFS V3. (It does. All the NFS stats show
only NFS V3 activity and no NFS V2 activity.)
4) Check for other network or NFS errors. (Unfortunately, there are none
indicated on either Tru64 or NetApp.)
I'll probably do 1 and 2 (in that order) when we can spare the downtime.
