(unknown charset) How to unlock the ASE

Dear Managers,

I'm running Tru64 40F on 2 ES40 systems with ASE 1.6.

Last time I tried to relocate a service, asemgr killed and didn't
relocate, leaving the message "Director Warning: an ASEmgr exited whit
the db lock" in daemon.log.

I can't run asemgr anymore (it starts writing dots).

Anyone knows a way to unlock the ASE without asemgr?
