The answer after a more conclusive test is "Yes, and needs to be
fixed". Immediate replies from Alan Davis who suggested trying the

to subscribe. The effect is that it composes a pretty email which
then happily proceeds to bounce back without anything working.
Therefore we can safely conclude that the list is broken. For those
