Original Questions and answers:
>I am going to do a fresh install of the v4.0f on one of my alpha servers
and I have some >questions.
>
>1. We are running Oracle 8.1.5. Is it certified to run under v4.0f?

Yes it is. I went to metalink.oracle.com and checked.
>
>2. The last time I upgraded the operating system I had to do something
like rebuild the >Oracle kernel. I had instructions how to do that but
can't find them. Do I still need to do >that and if so does anyone know
how to do it.?

I had differing opinions here. One reply said I had to reinstall Oracle
the rest said Oracle will work OK.
>
>3. I recently did a fresh install, on another system, which we use for
testing, from 4.0d to >4.0f. I had to update the firmware and rcu and
ecu. After running ecu I lost my graphics on >the console. What I mean is
before running ecu I could had the gui interface on the >console. I did
something and now I only have a textual interface on the
console. Can >anyone guess what I may have done and how to avoid doing it
again? As I said it is a test >system so it isn't super critical I have
the gui on it but I don't want to do it again.

Some said to check what console was set to at the >>> prompt. It was set
to graphics not serial so I still don't know the answer for this
one. Anyway I will be real careful when I run ECU the next time.
>
>4. I think I have remembered all of the files which I have modified so I
can make those >changes on the fresh install. Can anyone give me a list of
files I need to make sure to >keep?

Didn't get a answers here but I think I'll be OK, especially if I have a
good backup.
