Hello group,
A customer of mine is running Apache 1.3.9 with mod_perl on a trio of
ES40's. Back end is a single Sun E450 Oracle 8.1.5 repository. Company is
looking for ultimate performance from the ES40 servers. Servers are load
balanced to a burstable 10mb (this is not a misprint) pipe.
Question from customer: Is there any major benefits to upgrade to version
Tru-64 4.0g or version 5.0?
Each server is a stand alone server (2.0gb ram, single drive for o/s and
single drive for swap) running Tru-64 Version 4.0F Patch Kit 0003 and
tweaked with the webserver configuration guidelines found at
http://www.unix.digital.com/internet/tuning.htm and www.apache.org. (Many
thanks for the groups pointers to these helpful guides!). Note: Customer is
also in the process of upgrading to (3) 667mhz cpu's up from (2) 500mhz and
also upgrading to Apache 1.3.12. Upgrade should be completed by next week.
Thanks for your help.
Shawn
