System doesn't listen to root's crontab

One of our three DEC Alpha1200 servers does not acknowledge the instructions in the root's crontab.
The crontab file itself does not seem to contain any mistyped
instructtions.
The relevant part of the crontab is:

# Daily offline/online fullbackup (only after working days)
45 21 * * 1-4 /backup.DICO.offline.sh
#
# Weekly backup verification (since 28-11-99)
05 10 * * 0 /backup.DICO.verify.sh

any suggestions?
