SUMMARY: KZPSC and Tru64 5.0?

Thanks to everyone who responded. Although there were some
inconsistancies in the information, I get the impression that the board
will boot and run under T64 5.0, though possibly not under 5.0A.

First, I haven't tried it and I don't have one available to
        try it.

The KZPSC was an odd controller. I think the driver and
certainly the host based controlling software was the
responsibility of a group working for Storage, not the
operating system group. Either that group didn't get a
V5.0 port done in time to ship with V5.0, or elected not
to because they perceived it was too much work for too
little value. I think the KZESC was in the same boat.
If the KZPAC version is supported, that suggests it was
a cost/benefit tradeoff that kept it from being supported,
since the three are very similar.

I wish I knew what really went on.

I was a little concerned by this so I mentioned it to my team leader and
we opened up the release notes for 5.0A. The only time they are not
supported is when they are in a PCI to PCI bridge. Check out the release
notes for the exact phraseology.

Steve,

There was an early announcement that it would not be supported under
DU5.0.

When we got DU5.0 there was no mention of its retirement in the release
notes and it was listed as supported in the SPD.

A call to our CSC produced the response that according to engineering it
is supported, it was going to be dropped but there had been a change of
mind.

I can confirm that I have 4 off them working under DU5.0 without problems.
(On alphaserver 1000 and 1000A)

I believe that I read on this list that support has been dropped in 5.0A.

Steve,

I had a printout of a document that stated that Tru64 supported the KZPSC
controller...however I have just returned to where I got it from and it
appears that it has changed!?!?

Could you please send me any info you receive on this?

Regards

ANdy

All,

I understand that the KZPSC SCSI controller is not "supported" in T64 5.0.
However, does this imply that it won't work? The term "supported" is just
too heavily overloaded in this business to read anything specific into it.

Can someone confirm or deny that the machine will configure and boot using
the adapter?
