Dear Managers,
I had the chance to read an article from Mr. K. K. Ramakrishnan and Mr. Henry Yang written a few years ago, entitled "The Ethernet Capture Effect: Analysis and Solution". It happens that the problem and the scenario described, this is, very small number of nodes in a network with a high load, might fit the situation we have in at our site.
The article described and compared the two algorithms for collision resolution (the Binary Exponential Backoff - BEB - and Capture Avoidance Binary Exponential Backoff - CABEB).
In our scenario we have 2 AlphaServers 2100A equiped with EtherWorks Turbo PCI 10.
>From this we have several questions:
1. What is the algorithm running on the systems, BEB or CABEB ?
2. How can I get that information from the system ?
3. How can I change the algorithm ? Is there any patch available ?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Antonio Urbano
