Hello...

I initially posted a message about how to properly replace a KZESC
raid controller with a KZPAC raid controller on a Alpha Server 2100 running
4.0D. After numerous replies and a call to Compaq, here is the approach I
will be taking. Before that, thanks to :

To begin with, back up all filesystems using dump/vdump first.

1. set auto_action to halt at console prompt.
2. using swxcrmgr (ra2000rcu) copy EISA card config to floppy disk and make
   a copy of it.
3. take out eisa card.
4. install pci card, leaving cables off for now.
5. use ECU utility to confirm removal of KZESC.
6. using ra2000rcu, restore config to PCI controller.
7. turn off system, cable drives to controller.
8. verify, using ra2000rcu, proper config of pci controller
9. use "show device" at >>> prompt and write down pci/xcr0 information for
   later use in kernel configuration.
10. boot genvmunix off of hard drive with :
>>> boot -fl s -fi genvmunix
11.
# bcheckrc
# swapon -a
# cp /usr/sys/conf/sysname file to /usr/sys/conf/sysname.bak
# sizer -n new_config_file

Look at entries for xcr0 in /tmp/new_config_file and replace EISA
xcr0 stuff with PCI xcr0 stuff in /usr/sys/con/sysname file.

# doconfig (to build new kernel with proper config info)

Make backup copy of /vmunix

Copy new kernel to /vmunix

# sync;sync;sync

Reboot to single user mode. Test and go to multi-user if okay.

I will summarize again if this doesn't work to tell you (hopefully?) what I
did to fix it...
