Greetings,

Thanks to all of those who replied. From Dr. Tom Blinn
I found that basicly I would have to get a better
video card and hope that it has the drivers/license
included. Also, he said that it may not work on my
164LX box. As for Mesa, I found out why 3.2 was not
compiling after looking through the error messages. I
found that the glxdsplyinfo program needs to be
removed from the Makefile since it does not compile
properly. After doing that, all everything compiled
cleanly with the command "make osf1-sl". I'm testing
it out, so far Mesa works as expected.. slow. So I'm
going to see what I can do about finding a used 4dx0T
video card and try that out.

Original Question:

I have a 164LX based box with an Elsa Synergy video
card (a.k.a. 4d10t). I installed the Open3d subsets
and to my amazement, the opengl implemenation for this
video card is software-only! I also found that I can
compile the example programs and even apps from the
net, however none of them will work.. they cause the X
server to halt!! I then went digging about and found
that you need a license for the Open3d subsets to
work, otherwise.. you get the above Xserver hang. I
know that Open3d will go away soon.. my questions are:

1. If I need a license, how much does it cost?
2. Does Mesa work? I tried to compile version 3.2 with

cc and gcc, no luck. If it does work what version
and what compiler options are needed?
