emacs differences between 4.x and 5.0A

Does anybody know what is wrong with this syntax for emacs now in 5.0A?
According to the man page it's fine.

It works fine in 4.0d (the value is actually in my .Xdefaults, but it
fails the same way from the command line in 5.0a).

emacs -geometry 82x55+1+15

Initialization error: Invalid geometry resource
