rpc.lockd Dies Mysteriously

I'm having a problem with rpc.lockd just failing the moment I start it. DU
4.0D with patch kit 5. Here's all I see:

bash-2.03# rpc.lockd -d 1 -b sulu
lm_timeout = 5 secs, grace_period = 15 secs, hashsize = 29
init: gethostname...done

binding sulu (172.16.1.150)
bash-2.03#

and then that's it. The rpc.lockd program just stops dead with no other
indication as to what happened.

Any suggestions?
