Thanks for the prompt replyies and suggestions for diagnosing the problem
further. I checked the binary log with uerf and a trimmed version of the
message logged is the following:

The message "this is NOT_an error" makes me a little less concerned, but
I'm not sure where to go from here, so any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
