SUMMARY : Netwerk interface card half, or full duplex

I got several answers for my question (see below) on the speed of a NIC.

With thanks to:

There were several persons who pointed to the last boot sequence information
in the messages file, which works fine for version 4.0-D and version 4.0-F.
As pointed out by several other persons also "uerf -R |grep <interface
card>" or "dia -R"

Others said using "consvar -g ewa0_mode" should do the trick. I found out
this command works fine on a 4.0-F system, but does not on a 4.0-D system.
Another 'strange' thing about the consvar command is that the "consvar -l"
should show all the variables and their values. However it lists only a few,
even on a 4.0-F system.

For 5.0 systems you can use "sysman -station". After right-clicking the nic
you can select the device properties (just like the MS stuff).

ORIGINAL QUESTION:

Managers,

Is there a way to see on what speed a network interface card (other than a
fddi card) is operating on a running system?

I know the speed of a network interface card is set on the bootprompt with
the ewa* variables, but I cannot find a way to find the value of these
variables on a running system. With lan_config several NIC settings can be
changed, but lan_config seems to be missing a display option of the current
NIC settings. The fddi_config has this option (-d) but this doesn't work on
a regular interface card. I also cannot get the desired information from the
ifconfig command.

We are running 4.0-D and 4.0-F.

Any ideas, suggestions ?

Regards,
Gert-Jan Hilbrands
