Managers,
I'm having a strange problem with a cobol compiler at one of our 4.0-F
systems.
We are migrating one of our development machines to a heavier machine. We've
installed the new machine with almost the same software (both Tru64 Unix
4.0-F , PK1 and Cobol v2.5) as the old development machine. Until a few days
ago all cobol jobs seemed to compile just fine on the new machine. However
we are encountering some problems right now with the compilation of one
program. We've discovered that the compiler on the new machine fails on a
compute statement. We've build a small program to simulate this problem on
different machines. The strange thing is that this program compiles fine on
every one of our 4.0-F machines, but not on the new development machine. It
starts to compile and does this forever without generation an error.
I've compared almost every cobol installation file and several libraries on
the new and old development machine and I cannot find any differences. I
even tried a new installation of Cobol and even that didn't solve the
problem.
Does anyone has a clue, or any ideas for the direction I should look for
Regards
Gert-Jan Hilbrands
