I failed to mention that on boot of dva0, the system reports back a valid
boot block, reads the data in, and then gives me a boot failure.
---------- Forwarded message ----------
I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Tru64 5.0 machine. Had I paid
attention during the initial upgrade, I would have noticed that the
firmware CD that ship(s/ed) with Tru64 5.0 does not even support it. That
may explain some of the problems that I have been having.
I am unable to boot from floppy.
I have low-level formatted the floppy successfully and ran mkbootfirm
successfully using the commands specified by the readme that came with
mkbootfirm. The fwupdate.exe is firmware 5.8 {the latest I could find for
the PC164LX}.
>From the console, I ran 'boot dva0'. It begins to boot and reads the
blocks in and then gives me a boot failure. No other identifiable
information.
I can only presume that I have done something wrong. I will be trying
with another floppy or three, but in the meantime, is there something
obvious that I have missed?
