last / wtmp on 5.0a?

Hello...

 I upgraded to 5.0a from 4.0d last week, and I'm having a problem with wtmp/last.

 Twice I've taken the tact of :

        cd /var/adm
        mv wtmp wtmp.old
        touch wtmp

  Both times, wtmp worked for about 1 hour, and then stopped logging entries (based
on output from the last command, and a who -M /var/adm/wtmp).

  Anybody else see this?
