Thanks to all who replied, especially Sam Guercio and Jean Schuller.

The problem turned out to be a stupid mistake on my part (of course). When I
removed the jumper that enabled termination, I also removed the jumper for
term power. Putting the term power jumper back in place allowed the drive to
work after using scu to rescan the busses.

I was also told not to set the ID on the drive itself because it is slot
dependent in the StorageWorks cabinet. I still have it set on the drive, so
I guess I got lucky on the slot.

A couple people also reminded me that swapping the disk in the SBB voided
the warranty. I was aware of this, but the drive was doing me no good
sitting on the shelf next to my backup tapes and the 4GB that it would have
given me wasn't enough.

Once again, thanks to all who replied.

Subject: Adding a 18.2 GB drive to an AlphaSever 2000

Hi all,

I'm trying to add a 18.2 GB drive to my AlphaServer 2000. I've removed a 4.3
GB drive from one of the SBBs we had on a shelf and installed the 18.2 GB
drive (both are Wide SCSI). I inserted the SBB into the box and ran scu show
edt, but it isn't detected... I've set the jumper on the drive to SCSI ID 4,
which is free. I've also tried removing the termination jumpers from the
drive. I also went ahead and ran MAKEDEV to create the rz4 devices that will
be needed. How can I get this drive to be recognized in my system?

Thanks and I'll summarize.
