Thanks all for your quick responses.
The answers came from:
"Sean O'Connell" <sean_at_stat.Duke.EDU>
"Charles M. Richmond" <cmr_at_iisc.com>
"Ariel" <ahanek_at_uolmail.com.ar>
All indicated finding the appropriate place in the AlphaBIOS menus
to tell it to bring up SRM instead of AlphaBIOS.
For reference, here is how I found it:
1. <F2> to enter setup
2. choose "CMOS Setup" from the menu
3. <F6> to enter "Advanced Setup"
4. Tab to "Console Selection"
5. use arrow keys to select "SRM"
6. <F10> to save
7. check and reset date (it had set itself to January 1, 1995)
8. <F10> to save
9. <esc> to exit Setup
10. powercycle and watch Unix boot up <grin> -- if auto_action is not
set to boot in SRM, you will have to
>>> boot
Thanks again to everyone!
