NON-POSTSCRIPT SERIAL PRINTER ON TCP/IP

Dear experts,

Sorry if my query sound stupid but I'm new to admin.
I've configured a non-postscript serial printer from LAT to
TCP/IP printing. Now printing can't work as the carriage returns
are not recognised. Can this be supported through print filter?
If yes, what are the entries that I need to add in the /etc/printcap
and what are those that need to be defined in the filter?
If anyone can give me some direction on how to resolve this problem,
will very much appreciate it.

Many thanks in advance,
Karen Teo <karen.teo_at_reuters.com>

PS : I will summarize.
