TIG error generally requires a new motherboard as the TIG NVRAM has become
corrupt. If, as in my case, this happens at power up then replacing
motherboard is only solution. If it occurs when upgrading firmware and the
system is already up it can be solved in the following way
If you see a TIG error on the OCP, instead of replacing the motherboard, you
or your service person can do the following: Power off the system, remove
the CPU/Memory cover, remove MMB1, then move jumper J21, which is the upper
left jumper located to the upper right of MMB1, to position 2-3. This jumper
position will force loading the TIG NVRAM from the serial rom. Leave the
jumper in this position. Replace MMB1, cover etc. and your TIG nvram should
be fine hopefully forever). The jumper information is in the ES40 Service
Manual.
