We have several identical Personal Workstation 500au processors, each having
two DEFPA DAS FDDI adapters. The following problem is being reported.
The machines have been configured and show the FDDI adapters as:
fta0 - Slot 8
fta1 - Slot 12
On some machines, if /genvmunix is copied onto /vmunix and the machine
rebooted, the FDDI configuration shows as:
fta0 - Slot 12
fta1 - Slot 8
What is happening? How is the "fta" suffix number assigned? How is the
slot number assigned?
I recall seeing something similar in the past where I was not able to
predict with 100% confidence on a machines having a DE500 Ethernet adapter
whether tu0 would be the motherboard Ethernet adapter or the DE500.
