Dear TruDudes,
OK. So I tried to get the answer off of the StorageWorks Support pages, but
now
I'm only more confused.
I wanted to know if the 36.4 GB 7200 Dirves were supported on the RA3000...
I went to:
http://www6.compaq.com/products/storageworks/raidstorage/RA3000rack_prod.htm
l
First of all , under the "Operating System and Adapter Support Information"
link,
it has a table of supported drives, which only goes as high as the 18.2 GB
10K drive.
I then went to another link in search of a second opinion, and just in case
I was viewing
a stale page. Bingo - Under the "Ordering Information and Configuration"
link (rackmount),
it has a link to "RA3000 Supported Disks" under Step 6. That page has the
36.4 GB drive
listed in it's table of "recommended" drives.
I'm assuming that the latter is correct - probably a newer table.
Second of all, the firmware levels needed confused me with the column under
the latter table
which lists the "Minimum Firmware Level" for the 36.4 drive as "3B05".
The page which hosts the former table - "Operating System and Adapter
Support Information" has a
table furhter down the page which lists the Supported Environment for Tru64
UNIX, dual controllers
(which I am using), as haveing a supported firmware level of "D-11S", which
looks like
a viable string.
What's the 3B05? A Disk FW level?
There's no physical FW level label on my current 9.1 GB SBB drives. (?)
In summary-
Is the 36.4 GB, 7200 RPM SBB disk (DS-RZ1FB-VW) suppored with the RA3000
RAID controller on BA356 shelves ?
What is the RA3000 FW level that I need to be at ?
What is the 3B05 FW referring to ?
Thanks,
-W
