I have a 3 channel PCI slot DAC960 and am trying to put it into an AlphaStation 200 4/233
running firmware CD 5.5.
I know that the firmware is for the Intel platform and I can't see it show
up in the Alpha SRM console "SHOW DEV" list when no cace SIMM is installed.
When I place a 4MB memory SIMM onto the board, the Alpha seems to hang with this repeating message:
waiting for dra.0.0.13.0 to poll...
waiting for dra.0.0.13.0 to poll...
waiting for dra.0.0.13.0 to poll...
.
.
.
I have tried several different SIMMS (ECC and others, not sure if parity RAM or not).
Does the DAC960 require a RAM SIMM to be installed before it will work?
This controller does appear to work on a Compaq Prioris Intel box.
Is there a way to make this work like a KZPSC-BA PCI SWXCR does on
the Alpha platform? I tried to access it using ARC and swxcrmgr utilities on
the Alpha hoping to flash upgrade the ROM, but it just does not show up.
It appears to have firmware V2.39 installed (judging by the numbers on the label of U47 = 615140-F02 V2.39).
However, U34 is missing and only U47 is installed. Could this be the problem?
Do I need to obtain the proper Flash ROM to make this work?
Also, does a BA35x shelf(s) need to be plugged in before the unit will poll or does it just take a long time?
Here are all of the numbers and jumper options I have on the board:
042496
W.O.RTK81046 D04034904D-DIG REV.C
30-46890-03 REV.D01
974016
Mylex 189206-2 70G26F0002 ID=DIG239
U34=missing
U47=615140-F02 V2.39
Option Jumpers:
J6=open
J7=open
J9=on
J10=off
J12=off
SIMM=4MB (various types tried)
Cache Battery=DAC960LB DB1 jumper installed. (No cache battery)
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
