NFS problems in a switched network

        Hello

System: tru64 4.0e and 4.0f, DEC Personal Workstation 600 au and
Alphastation XP1000, network with Cisco switches 3500 family.

        Problem:
After the introduction of a switched network based on Cisco
3500 switches we are experiencing performance problems
possibly related to NFS (over UDP).
With the NFS server and client on different switches we see
a lot of NFS timeouts but with the machines on the same switch
there seems to be no problem.
Using 'netperf' to do TCP based performance tests there are no
problems and the performance is the same (ca 70 Mb/s) with the
two machines on the same or on different switches.

        Any clue ?
