We just received this over the wire from our friendly VAR:

Compaq Computer Corporation has identified a flaw in the Emulex LP8000 64
bit PCI Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter. The failure occurs in a small
percentage of the product (Compaq SKUs DS-KGPSA-CA (168794-B21) and
DS-KGPSA-CB (176479-B21)) in environments where the product is used in the
64 bit PCI slot under high I/O loads. The failure could result in invalid
data returned to the host on reads from the disk or tape.

Extensive follow up testing indicates that the problem is independent of any
server platform. Compaq has identified the problem at a single customer site
to date, but has been able to replicate the failure in specific lab tests.
While the failure occurrence is rare, Compaq regards any potential problem
with data integrity as serious.

For product already installed at the customer site, a firmware upgrade that
corrects the potential for the blem occurring is available at the Compaq
website below:

http://www.compaq.com/products/storageworks/adapters/64bitpcifibre.html

This is available from Compaq Customer Services as well. Complete
instructions for installing the upgrade, which will require powering down
the server, will be provided.

Compaq has begun to notify customers of the problem and the resolution.
