A number of people have pointed out that the documentation
does state that doing "mkfdmn" destroys data.
I'm accepting that, but in our situation there was
absolutely no warning or confirmation prompt when I
did "mkfdmn", it just did it and destroyed data -
this is where I feel there may be a bug, in the lack
of a warning or confirmation prompt.
I have screen dumps to confirm it, from a test
system where I duplicated the problem, and
should be able to reproduce the behavior at will.
I was contacted by a Compaq support person who will see if
he can reproduce the situation. I'll summarize when I hear
back from him.

Subject: putting filesystem in ADVFS destroyed data, no warning
I learned today that if you put a filesystem with data on it
into ADVFS the data is destroyed. Ick. This is under DU4.0F,
with most recent patch kit. I talked to Compaq support, and
they said that when I did the "mkfdmn" I should have received
a warning before the domain was created. I received no warning
whatsoever. As a matter of fact I was pleased to see that all
went so well, with no problems, till I did a "df" and discovered
what had happened. This would appear to be a bug. Has anyone
else seen such behavior? The underlying filesystem was an
LSM mirror.
TIA...
