Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to re-use a device number (HWID) under
v5.0a using hwmgr or dsfmgr after deleting the old. Currently when I
recreate a device it uses the next HWID and device name. eg:
dsk7--(delete)-->dsk8--(delete)-->dsk9...
already know about dfsmgr -e to exchange new<->old name but am trying to
stop unneeded incrementing of the device special name (Especially for
fibrechannel disks).
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Alia
Background:
Am writing some scripts for a replacement for Enterprise Volume Manager
(EVM) and units (snapshots with different WWID's each time) that are
connected via fiber to a HSG80 and I need to stop the disk numbers from
becoming unwieldy. Also it is easier if I can make the snapshots the same
dsk number so I don't have to re-create the fdmns each time.
Using hwmgr -del scsi -did X and dsfmgr -D dskX* to delete devices.
