Hello Alpha managers,
I just received another reply to my post, from Eskil.Swahn_at_LDC.lu.se,
who was very kind to send me a hack for allowing top to display PID
numbers wider than the 5 digits we've all used to:
Eskil:I don't normally use the renice-function in top but I did correct
the
Eskil:cosmectic things with top.
Eskil:
Eskil:Open machine.c (actually a link) and jump to line 113 and put in
an extra
Eskil:space in the beginning of the string " PID X ...". Change
UNAME_START at
Eskil:line 115 to '7' (You get help from the line above. It should be
the
Eskil:position of the 'X'). Then change the line with 'Proc_format' to
start
Eskil:with '%6d' and end with '%.13s' instead of '%5d' and '%.14s'.
Eskil:
Eskil:Now it looks right at least when you just want to show the
processes.
Eskil:
Eskil:Have you gotten any response from anyone who has done anymore with
it?
