Many thanks for all the reply. I have got the Documentation from
Compaq. I have to go through the manuals.
I have the test version of the SW from Sector7. I have to try it. Iam
giving all the replies below with my question
at the beginning.

Question:
"We are in the process of closing down our services on VMS machines. We
have got number of Programs and DCL scripts containing VMS specific
Library calls.
Is there any migration tools available to convert these programs o Tru64?
Most of the programs are written in Fortran."
regards,
Kumar

Kumar,
Well, they are not 3GL migration tools, but we have just completed a port
of a very large factory and also a large ISP running VMS to Linux and Tru64
using WRQ Verastream.
http://www.wrq.com/products/verastream/
It is 4GL but completely platform independent and a very nice application
development toolset.

Years ago we used a product called VEST to migrate . Believe it's now
called either Migrate or DECMigrate. You may have to purchase a PAK from
Compaq.

I believe Compaq's Fortran compiler for Tru64 has compiler switches
which give it some kind of VMS compatibility. This would certainly
help you run them on Tru64 before porting the code. You may not even
need to port the code at all!
You might check out <
http://www.compaq.com/fortran> and see if this is
a FAQ, or contact Steve Lionel at <fortran_at_compaq.com>, who is
extremely knowledgeable about Fortran and DEC/Compaq architectures.
He has told me his main interest is Fortran on OpenVMS.
Also you might check out <

There are two companies, Sector 7 (www.sector7.com) and Accelr8 Technologies
(www.accelr8.com) that specialize in VMS-UNIX (and -Windows) migration
tools, including libraries and even a DCL shell, if I recall correctly. You
should contact these companies to obtain these tools to complete your
migration.
Also, we have the free "Porting Assistant" which can help identify parts of
the program that may need modification.
