I'm not sure how to change my boot device. We are booting from Digital
disk now. In the future we wish to boot from EMC disk.
We have three alpha severs. Next week they are each getting one 52
gigabyte EMC Symmetrix disk array. Our servers Alpha2 and Alpha3
already have some EMC disk attached to them. The EMC connection to our
alpha servers is scsi over copper wire. We're using KZPBA-CB UltraSCSI
Storage Adapter Modules if that matters. I mean we aren't using
anyone's fibre channel technology yet. No scsi over fibre channel
technology here yet.
My working leader wants to install the operating system, Tru64 Unix
4.0E, onto an EMC disk and boot from that disk. Currently we are
booting from a boot partion on our Digital disks. I guess we plan to
retire all the Digital disks. I guess that will make us an exclusive
EMC shop.
How do I change the bus, target, lun, device idenity of the bootdef_dev
variable, or/and any other appropriate varibles such that It permanetly
boots from EMC disk. Pick any one of my EMC disks for this purpose.

[Q] How do I permanently change my boot device to one of our EMC
Symmetrix disks?
Do I do it from the SRM chevron prompt, or is it a parameter in
the kernel, or is it located somewhere else? How do I change it.
>>> set bootdef_dev device
How would I code the device portion of this parameter?
