Many thanks to those that replied.

I will proceed along the Legato route as it is available on the APCD and
presumably well tried.

I have installed it, not without difficulties, and am trying it out now.

You should consider SyncSorts Backup Express. Please call Bob Kerr with
Syncsort for details and tell him I sent you to him for help. His phone
number is: (201) 930-8242 We are changing from Legato to BackEx for many
good reasons.
Thank You,
Dennis Peacock

As far as I know, Legato's NetWorker software is the only package that
cluster aware. Veritas' software might be now though. See the web sites at
http://www.legato.com/ and http://www.veritas.com/ for info.

I think Networker is the usual recommendation. Their current
level of support may support spreading the tapes among the
systems so that backups can be scheduled by whatever system
controls the media changer, but write directly to the local
tapes. Certainly this is the intent of OpenVault.

Failing that, simply put all the tapes on the same system
and do all the backups there. Given a GS160 class system
in a full V5 cluster, you could even set aside a small
        partition dedicated to the backups.

Original Question:

Any advice/experiences of backup software for V5.1 clusters?>
We have installed a dual GS160 cluster and added via SCSI a TL820
  tape
library to one of the GS169.

We are soon to go live and need to consider backup to the TL820.

  Thanks,

  Thomas
