Hi,
For full redundancy, we are currently running 2 server in Tru64 Unix Version
4.0D with ASE 1.5. One Server is Active with the other is Standby. (without
Memory Channel interconnect).
a) Each server has its own local internal bootdisk.
b) Each server is connected to 2 external storage using SCSI bus
= Server-A SCSI-A to ExtStorage-A to Server-B SCSI-A
= Server-A SCSI-B to ExtStorage-B to Server-B SCSI-B
c) Both the ExtStorage (each has 2 disks), are mirrored using LSM.
d) Both Server are connected to separate AC Mains, so are the ExtStorage.
As such, even if the ExtStorage Box is faulty, we do not have a failure.
Compaq had inform us that Tru64 Unix Version 4.0D is going to EOL. As such
management had decided to upgrade to version 5.0A.
I know for a fact that Clustering in version 5 is very different from
version 4. Common cluster wideroot disk, individual server boot disk, quorum
disk, shared data disk.
My question is how can I maintained my full redundancy even after the
upgrade.
Can I still use the shared scsi concept, whereby each ExtStorage has a
clusterwide root disk, 2 server boot disks (one each), a quorum disk, 2 data
disks. The two ExtStorage are then mirror using LSM.
If not what can I do??
Thanks In Advance
IvanHoe
